Having a "THING" about Crowns... Prescience of Destiny

I had a "THING" about crowns when I was about this age. I had a brown glass pill bottle that I kept secreted in my nightstand drawer.  I collected all kinds of tiny jeweled crowns from decorative buttons to costume jewelry, brooches, earrings, everything crowns. I felt it was imperative that I had these on hand. They gave me great joy and filled me with awe, wonder and mystery. (If I had had a crown like the one pictured above, I would have swooned in rapture)   I grew up and some 35+ years later, in 2000, when I arrived...

Archetypal Dreams The Sacred Twins Creation Heros; meeting the Deities

When an Archetype enters your life, change is the new normal. They bring raw uncontrolled forces, upheaval, powerful kinetic somatic shifts, and sometimes a 180 degree turn about in what we think we know. This can collapse our world view, our consolidated and carefully constructed reality. It's good for us, but not pleasant typically, to go through a deconstruction or dismemberment to a newly "remembered" life. Carl Jung brought forward for western culture the idea of Archetypes as a psychological tool for analysis. Jung himself underwent a dismemberment in  his own life, while being a counselor of others. By the...

Dreams Synchronicities Presentiments Precognition Waking Dreams of the Future

Synchronicity is when a sequence of apparently unrelated events that link to a theme or subject seem to take on a life of their own in your world. Everyone experiences synchroniticity at one time or another. Typically we don't slow down enough to work with the images or theme arising. But if we do pay attention, synchronicities can lead us to adventures, renewal, the next step, revelations, healing, crisis, or right-livelihood.     Synchronicity is a concept, first explained by psychoanallyst Carl Jung, which holds that events are "meaningful coincidences" if they occur with no causal relationship yet seem to...

Devotional Art An Artist's Life Contemplation & Meditation

Making devotional art creates a dialogue from silent holy place deep inside of us to the spiritual worlds or deity. Creating a devotional icon opens the space to the divine ground of the World, as a question, prayer or commitment in the on-going conversation of the heart. This Mary altar piece is made from found objects found at thrift stores in the Bay area. It seemed like every thrift-store,  there were Mary and Christ figurines, and as I cannot leave a doll behind, I also found I could not leave these behind. So became a collection of divine deities. I was...

Mother Teresa the Movie The Letters

I just watched a movie about Mother Teresa called, "The Letters." The title refers to Mother Teresa's letters she wrote to her confessor over a period of many years. They reveal how alone & abandoned by God she felt for much of her life.   A beautifully made movie that still resounds in my heart. When she was quite young about 12 years old she knew she wanted to "help." She thought she was going to be a Missionary, but ended up becoming a nun and  a teacher in India. Her biography is fascinating, and her inner humility and piety shine...
