Are We Refusing Helping Others, cuz it's Their Karma?

I find these images of installation and performance art pieces by Nick Cave to be pictures or imaginations of consciousness. Each sort-of human has intricate, complex, multi-leveled interconnecting karma. I find in studying them a feeling of satisfaction of what I think we all are carrying around with us, inside of us. What do we look like stripped of our human body? When we cross the threshold of earthly consciousness, we drop the sack of the physical and we emerge over the threshold either in dreamless sleep consciously or after death. I think meeting our double would be a severe wake-up call.

Longing for Mystery; How Spiritual Experiences Change Your Life

Yearning for Spiritual Renewal - excerpt from Alchemy the Magical Arts of the Union of Soul© Kristena West        "As souls, we long for mystery. We long for something to take us out of our lives, change us, shape us, intend us toward something better, something great, toward light, heat, passion, potency and purpose. Although we may desire this adventure into spirit, many of us fight off these experiences, as our egos consider them too threatening. Joseph Campbell, when speaking of the lure and danger of surrendering into the unconscious, says that these visions and dreams are dangerous. They are...

Devotional Art An Artist's Life Contemplation & Meditation

Making devotional art creates a dialogue from silent holy place deep inside of us to the spiritual worlds or deity. Creating a devotional icon opens the space to the divine ground of the World, as a question, prayer or commitment in the on-going conversation of the heart. This Mary altar piece is made from found objects found at thrift stores in the Bay area. It seemed like every thrift-store,  there were Mary and Christ figurines, and as I cannot leave a doll behind, I also found I could not leave these behind. So became a collection of divine deities. I was...

Today I Will Listen to the Hearts of Others Creativity Advice

When I was at junior college to study fine art, fashion design & commercial art I had work study grants. I was the art instructors assistant in art & design classes and commercial arts. I was supposed to “help” the students with their art projects. Since I was the youngest student there, just turned 18 and knew next to nothing, with some of the students being in their 50’s and older, I asked, ” How do I help them?” I was told to, ” listen to them and help them.” Yikes. But I learned very fast that for me, it...

An Artist's Life; taking care of your Art Shrine

an Artist’s Life; taking care of your ArtShrine March 10, 2016Edit I’ve been thinking a lot about people who make criticisms or corrections about the actions or emotions of others. They show & tell their disapproval, as if they have the inner marker of “appropriateness” to everyone else’s behavior. These people have unresolved power, authority and creative issues, that they constantly project outward onto others. If one points this out, there is effusive denial. Yet, the very thing they proclaim about others, is the very thing they cannot see in themselves. Or they say, don’t take it personally. Yeah. right. Giving...
